چکیده

Background Exercise CMR is an emerging technique for understanding the effects of physiological stress on the cardiovascular system in health and disease. Accurate assessment of cardiovascular performance during exercise is challenging due to high heart rates and respiratory motion therefore new imaging tools are required for real-time measurement of biventricular function. In this study we evaluated the accuracy of high-temporal resolution realtime phase contrast imaging to measure cardiac performance during progressive exercise stress.

Response to letter regarding article, "Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging: a new gold standard for ventricular volume quantification during high-intensity exercise".

BACKGROUND Accurate measures are critical when attempting to distinguish normal from pathological changes in cardiac function during exercise, yet imaging modalities have seldom been assessed against invasive exercise standards. We sought to validate a novel method of biventricular volume quantification by cardiac MRI (CMR) during maximal exercise. METHODS AND RESULTS CMR was performed on 34 ...

Diastolic function imaging: a comparison of real-time phase contrast magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging with segmented phase contrast CMR and Doppler echocardiography

Background CMR measurement of mitral inflow velocities for the assessment of diastolic function is often infeasible in patients with dyspnea patients who may benefit the most due to their inability to breath-hold. Although real-time phase contrast (RT-PC) imaging may overcome this limitation, it has not been systematically evaluated. The objective of this study was to assess the accuracy of RT-...

DNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....

CMR real-time, free-breathing, phase contrast flow quantification: a novel approach to assess ventricular coupling in constrictive pericarditis

Background/objective Constrictive pericarditis (CP) is an important cause of heart failure; however, with accurate diagnosis and directed treatment it is potentially curable. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has played a diagnostic role, primarily by allowing assessment of pericardial morphology but with limited depiction of physiological changes. We sought to examine the feasibility of...

Real-time phase-contrast flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance with low-rank modeling and parallel imaging

BACKGROUND Conventional phase-contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance (PC-CMR) employs cine-based acquisitions to assess blood flow condition, in which electro-cardiogram (ECG) gating and respiration control are generally required. This often results in lower acquisition efficiency, and limited utility in the presence of cardiovascular pathology (e.g., cardiac arrhythmia). Real-time PC-CMR, ...
